Q: What is the procedure for posting bail?
Bail can be posted at the Milford Police Department 24 hours a day. Bail may be posted in:
  • Cash
  • Valid Surety Bond provided by a Bail Bondsman
  • Cashier's check made payable to the Milford Police Department
Q: What are the hours of operation for the Milford Police Department jail?
A: The Milford Police Department is open to the public 24 hours a day. The police department may be contacted at (248) 684 -1815 for bond information regarding a person in custody.

Q: Where and when will an arrestee go to court?
The person arrested will be arraigned with the 52-1 District Court during the week. In the event a person is arrested on the weekend or holiday, the arrestee may be arraigned at the 6th Circuit Court. The Milford Police Department also has the capability to arraign the arrestee via video arraignment with the 52-1 District Court. It is recommended to contact the Milford Police Department to determine which court the person will be arraigned in.

Q: What are the video arraignment procedures?
Family, attorneys, or other interested parties may observe video arraignments of suspects at the Milford Police Department by notifying an on-duty detective of their wishes to do so. Any party attending a video arraignment will be subject to the same rules of decorum as if they were in the court as there will be victims and their families, families of arrestees, etc. present to observe the proceedings. The video arraignment room will be open 15 minutes prior to the scheduled arraignment times. Parties present for video arraignments will not have the ability to address the court or make statements at the proceedings.  Due to call volume and the availability of officers, parties must call in advance to schedule an observation.

Q: Where will an arrestee go after he or she goes to court?
A: Arrestees who remain in custody after arraignment are typically remanded to the custody of the Oakland County Sheriff Department

Q: Is there a telephone number I can call to find out if someone is in jail?
The Milford Police Department may be contacted at (248) 684-1815 to find out if someone is in custody. The police department can confirm if someone is in custody and bail amount if applicable. The department is unable to provide any information regarding specific charges. The Milford Police Department may also refer you to 52-1 District Court where the arrestee will be arraigned.

Q: How many visitors can an arrestee have?
The Milford Police Department does not have a facility in place to allow for visitors.
